Hats off to Rio Terrace Community League for a frightfully good Franken Family Festival on a chilly October 27 afternoon. Programs Director Samantha Gullekson and Newsletter Director Dawna-Lynne Duffy Power organized a fun fest for kids of all ages (at least 60 folks participated during the time I was in attendance).  Special kudos to the dozen Jasper Place High School Leadership Program students for helping out, including manning the bowling and balloon-busting games, and making the popcorn.

Thanks to residents Ryan, Karen, Marco, Judy, Julie, Nicole, Darcy, Heather, Jessica, Kwan, Alex, Collette, James, Alyssa, Lisa, and Mark for chatting with me.  It was great to hear how parents and students were extremely happy with Rio Terrace, Patricia Heights, Hillcrest, and Laurier schools, and with the Mandarin bilingual program at Meadowlark School. I need to better understand the budget impact on the apparent reduction in staff professional development days at Rio Terrace School.  Thanks Rio Terrace for letting me join you!
